About the Event
The Power of Bubbles - The interaction between bubbles in liquids and sound is a fascinating science topic and is also one of great practical importance.
Bubbles are crucial in our understanding of how carbon dioxide transfers between the atmosphere and sea. Bubbles also generate sounds in the ocean environment that confounds ships' sonar in shallow water.
The importance of bubble acoustics is not confined to oceanography, but also has applications in industries, such as defence and medicine.
This talk will cover a few of those applications, with a particular focus on recent research.
